Milk of Magnesia: Does it really help with oily skin?

I am a total sucker for any DIY or all natural remedies so I had really high hopes when I decided to try milk of magnesia for my oily skin. I had read that is was a wonderful and cheap way to deal with excess oil. I tried it out for about a month, maybe a bit more, and these are my results:

When you first apply it you immediately feel it’s drying effect. My skin felt quite tight, when applying you must be very careful because a white film will most likely form around the edges so you want to make sure you get rid of that, all you have to do is rub it a bit and it comes off.

While it is quite mattifying when first applied it really didn’t have any long lasting effects for me. I still got oily as if I had applied nothing at all. I was pretty disappointed because I had very high hopes for this! I had heard it was wonderful for so many people! I really don’t know if it’s just me but milk of magnesia was not the cure for my oily T-zone, the search for my solution continues!

Beauty Tip of the Week: Under eye Circles!

Hey guys!

Undereye circles are a pesky thing to deal with so I decided to share my favorite tips for dealing with them!

If your under eye dark circles are caused because of enlarged blood vessels, double up on pillows at night to stop blood from building up under your eyes.

If you wake up to dark cirlces apply a cold compress for about five minutes to constrict the blood vessels. This will make them less noticeable.

To avoid dark cirlces you need a healthy dose of Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin K iron and folic acid. So make sure you are eating tons of citrus fruits, berries, green leafy veggies, nuts, whole grains, avocado, seafood, beef, cheese, green tea etc. and do away with processed and greasy foods.

Lack of sleep can make your skin appear paler which makes blood vessels more visible through the skin, giving the appearance of bluish or dark circles. So make sure that you are getting in at least 7-8 hours of good sleep!

Water is also super important when it come to keeping dark circles away! Dehydration can cause the blood vessels under the eyes to become swollen thus causing dark circles, so make sure you drink enough water (8 glasses at least).

Natural remedies:

* Cool cucumber slices,

* cotton ball dipped in potato juice,

* crushed mint leaves,

* teaspoon of tomato and lime juice,

* A bit of castor oil left overnight

* cool teabags to relieve stressed eyes

And when there is nothing else to be done conceal them!

For quick camouflage apply light eye cream or gel to the area and let it sink in for a few minutes. Now pat on a creamy concealer that is one tone lighter than your skin tone. Top it of with a layer of loose powder, which helps prevent makeup from caking in creases.

Hope this was Helpful!

I'm Nominated for the 2011 Beauty Blog Awards and I need your Help! :)

Hey!
http://www.handmadereviews.net/2011/10/beauty-blog-awards-2011-voting-open.html
So today’s post is very special to me. I would like to ask you guys to help and support me! A while back I did a post about the 2011 Beauty Blog Awards and I asked you guys to nominate me. I would like to thank everyone who took the time to nominate this blog; thanks to all of you I got nominated! My blog has been shortlisted! I was so excited when I found out J. Again I would like to thank all of you because without you this would not have happened!
So the blog awards consists of two parts. The first is the nomination which is now over. Now comes the exciting part: VOTING! All the nominated blogs are now up for voting. I would be extremely grateful if you guys could all go on over to this site:

And vote for this blog! It’s really simple and I promise it won’t take long. All you have to do is go to the site Handmade Reviews and click on my blog! It is third to last on the list.
The great thing about this is if you vote there could be something in it for you as well! Three voters will be randomly picked to win a BEAUTY PRIZE! How awesome is that?! By voting not only will you be helping me out, you will also be getting the chance to win something for yourself!

So if I win I would receive a large package of beauty-related prizes, including makeup, skincare products, gift sets, etc. The idea of this award is that the winner will have new beauty products to try and to review. This is an amazing opportunity. I don’t know if you guys know this but I actually don’t live in the States. I live in Colombia so the amount of beauty products that I can get here is very limited. I don’t have the option to go out and by products from brands that are probably very normal to you, but to me they are little treasures that I am lucky to get my hands on! So winning this would mean that I would get to try out and review all these products that I have always wanted to try.
So like I have said before voting is really simple, just go on over to Handmade Reviews, which is the site hosting this wonderful award, and click on my blog name.
Let me know in the comments below if you voted so that I can thank you personally!
Thank you guys so much, you are what keeps this blog going!

Easy cheap way to get soft, shiny hair!

If you read my blog then you know I love all types of hair treatment for your hair using ingredient from kitchen. I find that they are much more potent than most store bought hair treatment and they deliver better results for me.

The latest thing I have tried for my hair is mayo!

Yes you read that right; I have been putting mayonnaise in my hair! I decided to try this out after reading an article about repairing damaged hair wit mayo. Looking at the ingredient in it you can see why this product can be beneficial for your hair. First of all it has eggs. Eggs are a great source of protein so putting it in your hair will add strength and help you if you are dealing with fragile or damaged hair. Mayo also has vinegar and oil which will add amazing shine to your hair. This was actually a very popular hair mask back in the 1950’s!

So if you have decided to discover the amazing things mayo can do for your hair you have two options. You can use store-bought mayo or you can make it yourself. So far I have only used store-bought but I really want to try making it myself. I’m thinking of making a video on how to make it, let me know if you would be interested in that ;) . I would really like to do a comparison between both options to find out if one or the other works best on my hair.

All you need to do is apply about ¼ cup of mayonnaise to your hair. Leave it in for at least 30 minutes. Rinse out really well. Enjoy soft, shiny, strengthened hair!

I would really recommend this for anyone with dry or damaged hair, I probably wouldn’t try this for oily hair.

Warnings:

· The store-bought kind smells really funky! I felt really weird putting in my hair the first time but then I just got use to it. And don’t worry because the smell come out once you wash it off.

· If you leave this on for a while you will see that your strands get kind of hard, it’s because of the egg but again don’t worry your hair will be fine once you wash it out.

Hope you enjoyed this post!

Remember to enter all my current giveaways if you haven’t already.
