Review: Redken Extreme (Shampoo & Conditioner)

So a little over year ago I got my hair chemically straightened and while I was great it left my hair very damaged. I started to notice this when my hair began to grow out becuase the place where natural hair meets the straightened hair is extremely weak. My hair would break with everything!
I figured I needed some high quality products to give my hair back its strength. I bought the Redken extreme shampoo and conditioner. These are imported products in my country so it was very expensive. I had very high hopes for this but I was kind of dissapointed.

First impressions:
The smell of both of these products is amazing. It smells like caramel apples, I'm in love with the scent!
The shampoo foams ALOT, so a little goes a long way. This is product that will probaly last you a while, at least it has for me. The bottle size for this is 300ml.

The conditioner is not very thick, in fact its a bit runny. I didn't really like this because I feel my hair need something thicker and more intense. Despite what I first thought it did leave my hair quite soft. The bottle size is 250ml, it's smaller then the shampoo. This really doesn't make sense to me because you need alot more conditioner than shampoo.

As far as its strenghtening effect I did notice that right after using these products while I was in shower I felt my hair a bit more resistant than usual. But after it was dryed and styled it felt just as usual.

The first couple of weeks I really didn't notice my hair improving at all but I thought I just needed to give it a bit more time.

Results:
It's been about 5 months since I got this and I am sad to say it just didn't work for me. My hair remained weak and brittle. I also noticed this was drying out my hair. Not nice.
I'm really disappointed with this, especially since I spent alot of money on it. This product claims to "restore strenght" but I didn't do that for my hair.

Has anyone else tried this out? What were your results?

Soft, Shiny, Hidrated Hair!

So I am going to share one of my favorite homemade deep conditioners ever!
It's amazing. I actually made it today and left it in my hair for about 40 minutes. I am not kidding when I say I have never felt my hair soooo soft! It is also increadibly shiny. This mask is ultra hydrating so it's perfect for dry hair like mine. I recommend doing this mask once a week to get lasting results.

What you will need:
Half of a very ripe avocado

One medium sized banana
A tablespoon of honey
A tablespoon of fresh natural aloe vera (gel or juice)
A tablespoon of almond oil

Mix everything together. I would really recommend you put your mixture through a strainer to get rid of the clumps and little pieces of banana or avocado since these tend to be very hard to remove from your hair. If you strain it it will perfectly pureed and you won't have that problem.

The reason why this hair treatment works so well it because of the mix of ingredients. The avocado, aloe vera and almond oil will give you moisture. The honey gives you amazing shine and the banana is great at making your hair soft and silky.

Give this a try, your hair will thank you!

Spotlight on: Almond oil

I consider almond oil as one of my great beauty secrets! The best part about it is its many uses. Almond oil definitely deserves this spotlight!

Lets start of with using this oil in your hair. There are many different ways to apply almond oil into your hair depending on the effect you are looking for.
You could use it for an extremly hidrating hot oil treatment.

Hot (almond) oil treatment:
Warm up 1/2 cup of almond and massage it into your scalp. Make sure your hair is damp. Wrap your head in a warm towel or a shower cap. Leave on for 20 minutes and then shampoo and rinse out.
To make this even more hidrating try adding 1/4 cup of olive oil to the mix.

Results: You get unbelieveably silky, soft hair. It's amazing!

You could also use this on the ends of your hair. I use to do this to conceal my split ends before I cut them of. It's great because it makes your ends soooo soft its like you don't even have damaged ends.

Another great way I use almond oil in my hair is adding it as a bonus to any hair mask I use. Whether it's an avocado or a yogurt hair mask I always add about a tablespoon of the oil to it to make it even better!

Almond oil on the skin:
Do you want soft, Incredible looking legs? You need to use almond oil!
I sometimes use it alone or over body lotion, or even mixing half almond oil and half body lotion.
You will get the softest legs ever! And like if that wasn't enough they get this radant shine that I have never gotten using any body lotion.

Almond oil as an eye makeup remover:
This is my ultimate favorite way to remove my eye makeup....even water proof mascara!
All I do is dab a bit of the oil on a cotton ball and just swipe away all the makeup.

So almond oil is pretty amazing! I love it and it is totally one of my can't live without products!
If you have never used it you need to get some and try it out whether it's on your hair or skin. And if you have tried it I would love to know what you think of it!

Summer!

Summer is here and school is OUT!!! Could there possibly exist a better combo?

So since I no longer have to wake up extremly early in the morning to go to scholl and then get home to do homework all night, I finally will have enough free time to write plenty of post that I have planned from ages ago. I don't really have anything special for summer vacation so I'll be pretty dedicated to this blog.

Happy Summer to everyone!
